Omar Abdulaziz Hallaj, a Partner at LUGARIT, joins a closed Syria strategy meeting, held in an undisclosed location in Europe. The event, organized by an independent think tank, brought together ~ 30 participants to discuss critical issues affecting Syria and the broader Middle Eastern region.
The meeting focused on a range of pressing topics. A long session was dedicated to discussing the war in Gaza, regional conflicts, and their impact on Syria. In another insightful session, Omar Abdulaziz Hallaj presented an assessment of the current state and future prospects of areas under Syrian regime control.
Further discussions covered topics like local and international positioning, the fate of the autonomous regions, civil society, and the space for bottom-up initiatives. The discussions aimed to shed light on the complex dynamics of local governance in Syria and the role of civil society in shaping the country's future.
All discussions in the meeting adhered to the Chatham House Rule, allowing for open and honest dialogue without attributing statements to specific individuals. This approach facilitated a frank exchange of views, crucial for addressing such complex and sensitive issues.
